It is with much sadness that Sa Taronja has learned of the death of painter
Pedro Gonçalves
as a result of complications following a car accident, on December 7th, 2014.
From 2006 onwards he was a frequent visitor to Sa Taronja, presenting his work in a solo show and participating in two group exhibitions as well as providing technical support for the performances of his partner Mayte Bayón.
Pedro, an artist of great sensitivity and classical technique, studied in Paris and Barcelona where he developed his sense of color through lithographic work, his deftness of line through the creation of comics, and found his destiny as a painter. He favoured still-life and the human figure, demonstrating a great talent for portraiture, alternating between techniques of oils, watercolour, drawing and mixed media.
He was a fine artist and a very special and lovable human being, and all who came in contact with him at Sa Taronja remember him with great affection. Our thoughts and sympathy go to Mayte Bayón and all his friends. An exhibition of his latest work is being planned for the spring of 2015.
