In June:
SERENATA BERLIN
Concert on Saturday, june 6, 2015
Theatre Sa Taronja - 9.00 p.m.
Chamber music with members and friends of the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin (DSO):
Selina Lohmüller (clarinet)
Kamila Glass (violin)
Anna Kirichenko (piano)
are presenting works by Aram Khachaturian, Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinsky and Joseph Horovitz.
On Saturday June 6, we present a new concert in the Serenata Berlin series in Sa Taronja’s theatre. Once again, we welome the musicians and friends of the DSO (German Symphony Orchestra of Berlin). Violinist Kamilia Glass, the organiser of the series out of Berlin, has frequently appeared on our stage, and fans of Serenata will remember the wonderful pianist Anna Kirichenko who was with us for a quintet in our 2008 series. The new face this time is rising star clarinettist Selina Lohmüller. Interestingly, in the over 50 concerts we have given with Serenata Berlin in Sa Taronja, we have never had a piano-violin-clarinet trio. The unusual programme, featuring works by very diverse composers, was put together by this trio for a concert in the great concert hall of the cruise ship “Euopa” (five times larger than the Titanic…) last summer. Selina, still only 28, has notched up some impressive engagements in her short career, playing with the Berlin Philharmonic and many other major German orchestras, and from 2012-2014 was soloist with the DSO. All three are looking forward to presenting this wonderful music in the much less glamourous, but far more intimate, space of Sa Taronja. It will probably be the last full classical concert before the autumn, so we hope many of Mallorca’s music lovers will be there.
The programme:
Aram Khachaturian: Trio for clarinet, violin and piano (1932)
Claude Debussy: Sonata for violin and piano G minor (1917)
_______________________
Joseph Horovitz: Sonatina for clarinet and piano (1981)
Igor Stravinsky: Suite from „L´histoire du soldat“ for clarinet, violin and piano (1919)
Drinks and Tapas-Buffet in Limón y Chelo from 7:30pm.
Entry: 20 € (Members € 12)
Students and unemployed: free entry. Discounts for groups and seniors.

Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul
(free entry)
A European composer searches for new musical inspiration in Istanbul. Alexander Hacke, a member of the German avant-garde band "Einstürzende Neubauten" for more than 20 years, discovered the city and its music while composing the soundtrack for "Head-On". Experimenting with sound, he paces the streets with his mobile recording studio and a "magic" microphone, recording Turkish music. He discovers an incredible variety of sounds, from electronic music through rock and hip-hop to Arabic music. He strolls through an unknown, contradictory, seductive and vibrant world, collecting impressions and sounds, driven by the powerful currents of the vast and multifaceted city.
