PING!08

International Festival of Experimental Art and Music

From October 3rd to 26th, 2008

This year, the fifth edition of PING! proposes a tripartite collaboration between Mallorca, Germany and Belgium involving almost fifty artists. PING! has always sought out projects that reflect the influence of new technologies, emphasizing the expressive potential of modern research and development in installations, exhibitions and performance - and given special consideration to artworks which surprise and question. This symbiosis leads to a cross-fertilization of ideas, knowledge and techniques which have transformed the Festival into an exceptional platform for ongoing experimentation and dialogue.

This year the PING!Lab programme encourages the diffusion of experimental art and opens the debate about creative experience and aesthetic coordinates through workshops and conferences.

A cultural laboratory which will simmer throughout the month of October, bubbling over with music and visual art accessible to a mixed and international audience, offering a unique opportunity to discover the island and its cultural geography. Workshops will be offered in several different venues on the island.

The fifth edition of PING! rounds off a cycle of the first four "PINGS" with the participation of German, Belgian and Mallorcan-based artists, combining local and foreign projects.

For the first time we have decided to promote the program abroad, in Berlin and in Brussels. Our intention is to present experimental work on an international level and create a network for artistic exchange.

As usual PING! will take place in the old chicken farm, the headquarters of the cultural association Sa Taronja. Three great barns, spacious gardens and the 300-year old farmhouse welcome visitors to an ecological paradise surrounded by pine-clad hills, close to the sea. It's a unique place where one feels immediately at home, relaxed, curious, and open to the new.

We can of course provide tourist information regarding accommodation and transport to the interested visitor.
