NOTE! CHANGE OF DATE!
LEMON DAY is now on Saturday, March 5th!
Wednesday, February 23, 2011
Sa Taronja now has a fully equipped and operating DARKROOM for printing black-and-white (analogue) photos.
If you are a photographer with darkroom experience who would like to use these facilities, get in touch with us.
For those without experience who would like to learn to develop and print photos the old-fashioned way, we will be running workshops on darkroom technique and on creating and using a pinhole camera, starting in April.
Even in this digital age, analogue photography has much to offer, and there is no better way to understand exposure, focus and depth-of-field than in creating and printing your own photos.
Places limited: sign up now and state your scheduling wishes: these workshops can be organised on weekdays or weekends.

Lemon Day – Saturday, March 5
Sa Taronja's lemon trees (unsprayed - organic) are heavy with fruit.
As usual, we are inviting members, friends and the public to join us in making various lemon products that will be sold to benefit the association. All helpers go home with a couple of pots of marmalade or lemon curd.
Come with your friends (and, please, glass jars or bottles) and make our Lemon Day a success.
Note: this is not an activity suitable for small children, but children and families are welcome to come and "pick their own" - we sell our organic oranges and lemons for the benefit of Sa Taronja.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Participation fee: 5 €
Info: 971 235 268
Lunch available by reservation.
Activity cancelled in case of rain

Sa Taronja will celebrate its first "CALÇOTADA"
A "calçotada" is an event that comes originally from the city of Valls, in western Catalunya, and is based on the eating of "Calçots", a kind of onion grown underground and which looks like a leek. The calçots are prepared by roasting them on an open fire, serving them, burnt black, in roof-tiles and newspaper, and then dunking the tender inner parts in sauce before eating. The eating process is as hilarious as it is delicious.
Now, this might not sound like the height of culinary art - but wait till you try it! Those lucky enough to have attended a typical calçotada know that it is an unforgettable experience. You will have fun, you may get quite sooty (we will provide bibs for all), you will make new friends, and you will eat a most wonderful meal. The calçots are followed by roast meat, butifarra and beans...
The authenticity of the calçotada will be assured by our experienced Catalan volunteers...
Depending on the weather, we will eat in or out-doors
This is a fundraising event for Sa Taronja.
Cost per person: 20€ (children 10€) / Meal + wine or soft drink
Please arrive by 1:30 p.m.
Dress: washable!
RESERVATIONS REQUIRED!
