Sa Taronja will celebrate its first "CALÇOTADA"

A "calçotada" is an event that comes originally from the city of Valls, in western Catalunya, and is based on the eating of "Calçots", a kind of onion grown underground and which looks like a leek. The calçots are prepared by roasting them on an open fire, serving them, burnt black, in roof-tiles and newspaper, and then dunking the tender inner parts in sauce before eating. The eating process is as hilarious as it is delicious.

Now, this might not sound like the height of culinary art - but wait till you try it! Those lucky enough to have attended a typical calçotada know that it is an unforgettable experience. You will have fun, you may get quite sooty (we will provide bibs for all), you will make new friends, and you will eat a most wonderful meal. The calçots are followed by roast meat, butifarra and beans...

The authenticity of the calçotada will be assured by our experienced Catalan volunteers...

Depending on the weather, we will eat in or out-doors
