Dear Members and Friends of Sa Taronja

Your patience over the last couple of months is about to be rewarded: there are some good things coming up!  We are preparing a very interesting programme for the summer season 2016:

One of the first events is this week, on Wednesday night. This July we are delighted to welcome talented young composer KIRSTEN MILENKO to Sa Taronja as artist-in-residence.  Kirsten is from Sydney, Australia, and is currently studying Composition at the Sydney Conservatory of Music after studying Literature and International Relations at the University of New South Wales. Her work ranges from piano solos to electro-acoustic compositions, orchestral pieces, jazz and choral works, and she has already had works commissioned and performed.  Her inspirations come from – among other things - early chant, French impressionism and literary works.  Her current project is an orchestral piece to be performed by the E-Mex ensemble in Poland at the end of this month, and a clarinet concierto for a competition, which, if she wins, will be played by the Symphony Orchestra at the Conservatory of Music in Sydney, Australia.

You are invited to hear her performing this week on Wednesday evening when she will present a reduction of her orchestral works on the piano in Sa Nau, at 8.30 pm.
The concert is free, there will be bar service (but no food will be served).  Don’t be late! For more information and examples of her music, check out this link: https://m.soundcloud.com/kirstenmilenko

On Friday July 15th, to mark the end of the Intensive Body Weather Workshop, there will be a very special performance at 9.p.m. by world-famous Japanese dancer HISAKO HORIKAWA in the gardens of Sa Taronja. Co-founder with Min Tanaka of the Body Weather Laboratory, today Hisako travels the world giving workshops and performances, inter-relating with architecture and the community, and performing with a variety of artists and musicians in different countries. It is a great privilege for Sa Taronja that Hisako has agreed to perform for us at the end of the five day dance workshop she is giving at Sa Taronja between 11-15 July. Please do not be late for this half hour performance (free entry).

And..... you will be delighted to hear that on the same evening, at last, the restaurant will be open for those who wish to dine before the perfomance.

We welcome a new cook and a new dining experience: Eduardo López is taking over the kitchen and will be presenting fresh, Mediterranean cuisine under the name “ALFRESCO”, based on local produce, with market specials that will change weekly. The restaurant will be open Fridays and Saturdays, with live music. More information coming in the next newsletter. On opening night, reservations (622 616 109) for dinner are only possible between 7.30 -9 p.m., before the dance performance.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
