Music and dancing ...
Gabriela Giardino, one of the brightest jewels in Mallorca's tango scene, has sung her songs of passion, pain, love and death in many countries. In her repertoire figure everything from classics like Gardel to compositions by Piazzola. Tonight she appears on the stage of Limón y Chelo, Sa Taronja's romantic restaurant, accompanied by magnificent guitarrist Hugo de Ambrosio.

»KRAFTWERK-KLAVIER«
Piano transcriptions of Kraftwerk, the pioneers of electronic music by pianist Thilo Schölpen, accompanied by a live interactive digital video creation by video artist Peter Issig.
The 45-minute program, which has been performed in various festivals since its première in 2005 in Dusseldorf (including Floating Island in 2008, Electrinity in 2009, Electricity in 2011, Small Beast in 2012), is to be presented this autumn in New York in the Spectrum festival of Brooklyn.
"My concept was to take the purely electronic music of Kraftwerk and transform it into a mechanical work. The idea for the program grew out of my lengthy involvement with solo piano. The goal is to transmit rhythmic, abstract, sequenced melodies through one’s fingers, playing in real time. Kraftwerk’s melodies and rhythms, with their “pop” appeal, are perfectly suited to implement this concept." (Thilo Schölpen)
The performance is accompanied by an interactive digital video animation which is programmed to respond to the music, by video artist Peter Issig. He has developed a system whereby the music controls the animation, and thus creates an ongoing analogy between the music and the video.
It is a privilege for Sa Taronja to be able to present it in Mallorca for the first time.
The concert starts at 21:00 in Limon y Chelo. Admission is free. Limited seating! Table reservations for dinner ideally at 7:30 or 10 p.m.

Bass player Jan Kobrzinowski is coming to perform again in Sa Taronja. Here is the international version of his German band DIE JAZZPOETEN: Pianist / composer Volker Rasch and singer Mano Kösters meet flute player Anja Lautermann from Düsseldorf and Catalan drummer legend Salvador Font. - The most poetic jazz standards and evergreens and a couple of surprises from their CD "JAZZPOETEN", recently released in Germany.

MARGARET HUNTER is running a 5 day drawing and painting course for a maximum of ten people in Andratx, Mallorca from 16 to 20 September 2013, based at Sa Taronja. The cultural association Sa Taronja is where Margaret currently has a studio. It’s a lively and distinctive community and provides an ideal location for this course which will focus on creative awareness and visual thinking.
More generally, the town and port of Andratx retain a genuine Spanish feel linking the sea to the surrounding Tramuntana mountains. This ensures a relaxed environment while simultaneously stimulating the senses with the changing vistas and clear light of the beautiful island of Mallorca.
The course takes advantage of this setting to immerse the participant in the whole experience of a special place. There will be analysis of the subject through initial observational
drawing followed by a range of activities working from still life and the landscape, including spontaneous sketches resulting in a more liberated and energised style. These loosening up exercises are a great way to get quickly into the swing of things, while a visit to Andratx’s colourful market will provide inspiration for quick note-taking sketches.
These initial drawings form the basis of imaginative compositional ideas to be used for a final painting. During the week the expressive effects of composition as well as colour, quality of line, and the importance of tone and contrast will be explored. This ‘step-by-step’ course is designed to engender skills which can unleash the imagination to enable students to make their own distinctive images.
